Our Top 5 Ways to Spend Summer in Sault Ste. Marie

Not sure how to make the most of your time this summer?

Next Apartment can help with our top five favourite summer activities here in Sault Ste. Marie.

#1 Attend a Festival

Get out and enjoy summer at a festival! From July 19th to the 21st head down to Clergue Park for Rotary Fest. Enjoy live music, amazing food, and tons of fun for the whole family. Starting on August 9th, celebrate arts, culture, and theatre when Fringe North comes to SOO. This 10-day festival is the perfect summer event with breathtaking live performances, artisans, vendors, and street performers.

#2 Explore Nature

Nature flourishes in Sault Ste. Marie, and the summertime is the perfect time to explore it! Fort Creek Conservation Area is a 191-acre park featuring several hiking trails, a dam and reservoir, and plenty of wildlife to discover. Another way to explore the great outdoors is Geocaching with Parks Canada. The Heritage Hide 'n' Seek GeoTour encourages you to collect over 100 points while exploring beautiful Northern Ontario.

#3 Sit out on the Patio

Warm summer nights are best spent on the patio! The Fluid Boardwalk Patio and Grill at the Delta Hotel has a waterfront patio where you can enjoy a meal with an amazing view of St. Marys River. Or, enjoy all-you-can-eat wings on the large patio at Wacky's, just a short drive from our properties.

#4 Indulge Your Inner Foodie

Ice cream and summer go hand and hand. Elliott's and Holy Cow's are our two favourite ice cream parlours, both just minutes from our properties. Be sure to try Holy Cow's Vanilla Fudge with Reece's, or for a more unique treat, indulge with Elliott's ice cream tacos! For those looking for something more filling, a food truck is the way to go. Grill'em has all your favourite comfort foods and Huddy's Fish n Chips now offers smoked fish.

#5 Water Fun

Take the short drive out to Pointe Des Chenes beach and enjoy a day at the lake! Pointe Des Chenes also features 99 campsites with electricity and running water. For those who enjoy getting out on the water, Caribou Expeditions,  just 30 minutes from our properties, rents kayaks, boards, and canoes to help you enjoy Lake Superior.
